The Champaign County Rifle Association is one of the most active regional Second Amendment organizations. They're responsible for the "Burma Shave" signs you find on many Illinois highways. Visit their website. You'll be glad you did.

NATIONAL PRO-GUN ORGANIZATIONS
CCW LICENSE
Need a Concealed Carry License to cover you when you leave Illinois? There are at least three states that offer non-resident licenses without the necessity of traveling to that state for testing, Florida, Utah and Pennsylvania.
The cheapest and easiest is still Centre County, Pennsylvania. Visit the Sheriff's page (link below) and click on License to Carry Firearm Application. Be prepared to send a copy of your drivers license, a self addressed stamped envelope and the $26.00 fee for a 5 year license. Tough, huh?
The Pennsylvania Attorney General site indicates they currently (2/19/10) have reciprocity with 24 other states.

Dilemma: You need instant access to your loaded home defense handgun but you have kids in the house. Maybe an untrained brother-in-law comes over once in a while. For whatever reason, having a loaded, unsecured gun lying around the house is not an option for most people.
