STATE WIDE

Are you dead serious about protecting your Second Amendment Rights in the State of Illinois?  The ISRA supports three lobbiests in Springfield, more than any other pro-second amendment organization.  The cost of membership is less than the cost of a box of exotic waterfowl shotshells; about $2.00 a month.  Join the "A" team and become a member.  Go here:
Illinois State Rifle Association:  www.isra.org

The Champaign County Rifle Association is one of the most active regional Second Amendment organizations.  They're responsible for the "Burma Shave" signs you find on many Illinois highways.  Visit their website.  You'll be glad you did.

CCW

Need a Concealed Carry License to cover you when you leave Illinois?  There are at least three states that offer non-resident licenses without the necessity of traveling to that state for testing, Florida, Utah and Pennsylvania.

The cheapest and easiest is still Centre County, Pennsylvania.  Visit the Sheriff's page (link below) and click on License to Carry Firearm Application.  Be prepared to send a copy of your drivers license, a self addressed stamped envelope and the $26.00 fee for a 5 year license.  Tough, huh?

The Pennsylvania Attorney General site indicates they currently (2/19/10) have reciprocity with 24 other states.

GUN LAWS

Going on vacation?  Wonder what the gun laws are at your destination?  Try this site.  It's updated almost daily.   http://www.handgunlaw.us/

EQUIPMENT WE RECOMMEND

I've seen this accessory turn average shooters into good shooters and good shooters into excellent shooters.  This item is particularly useful if your having problems seeing the front sight or in low light conditions.  I use 'em on my home defense guns.  http://www.crimsontrace.com/

Dilemma:  You need instant access to your loaded home defense handgun but you have kids in the house.  Maybe an untrained brother-in-law comes over once in a while.  For whatever reason, having a loaded, unsecured gun lying around the house is not an option for most people.

Here's the answer.  Your handgun is secure but instantly accessable in case of emergency.  Check it out.
